What to expect:

Ready to hire a doula, but not sure how it works?

The first thing to do is schedule a chat with Jessica to discuss your pregnancy and birth specifics. If you’re a good fit from there, you will purchase one of our doula packages, and then we’ll get right to work supporting you through the process; Prenatal, Birth, and Postpartum, which are all detailed below.

FAQ

  • During your pregnancy, I will come to your home two or three times at a pre-arranged time that works for you and your husband to discuss your ideas, wants, needs, and fears regarding your upcoming birth.

I will educate you on what to expect during your hospital stay, including what typically happens after your baby is born.

I will help you understand how to bring balance and flexibility into your pregnant body. If you are interested, I can teach you spinning babies®, body balancing techniques, and a few of my favorite yoga postures.

I will rub your feet and back if you’d like and enjoy visiting and getting to know you and your husband.

We will discuss how your husband and I will work together to support you during labor. I help both of you become more prepared and excited for your upcoming birth.

  • You can expect a prompt response from me any time of the day or night when you are 38+ weeks gestation. I will be ready to meet you in your home or at the hospital and ensure you have the most caring support possible.

I will guide your spouse on helpful ways he could support you. I can also provide food for your husband if you don’t want him to leave your side.

As your doula, I work to meet your needs, so you do not need to feel isolated or vulnerable.

  • During postpartum visits, you can expect to come to your home with a listening and compassionate ear with anything you have on your heart/mind.

I offer the knowing perspective of someone who was ‘there’ throughout your entire experience. I can help you process what you went through.

I also help with nursing and educate you on self-care and newborn care. I can meal plan, cook, do some simple clean-up, or entertain your toddlers/baby while you nap. If you feel like you’d benefit from a comforting touch, I will give you a foot or shoulder rub.

I can provide a lot information to help steer you toward thriving with a newborn baby and help you process your labor and delivery.

I have a host of reference books available for you to borrow, as well as podcasts I recommend. I have contacts for pelvic floor physical therapists, counselors, and lactation consultants.
